== Treasurer Report for Fiscal Year 2023 ==

The bylaws[1] of the X.Org Foundation provide a duty of the Treasurer to
produce an annual financial report, approved by the Board, within 60
days of the end of the fiscal year. The fiscal year is defined as
ending on the 31st day of December in each year.

X.Org was a member of Software in the Public Interest (SPI) for the whole 2023,
which handled most aspects of the Foundation's financial management. There was
some delays in getting the full report - we've only got in in July 2024. Then it
slipped through the cracks. It's my first report without any continuity of the
role on the board and it's been hard to follow the process. I do apologize and
I'll do better next year.

== Cloud Hosting - BIG RISK ==

Cloud hosting costs are down to less than 15K USD. That's a huge decrease
compared to ~27K USD from 2022. Most of the savings comes from migrating off of
Google Cloud Platform and fully relying on Equinix's infrastructure. This
transition has caused a lot of the downtime in 2023 but we had to get the costs
under control.

Now we are fully reliant on hosting kindly provided by Equinix to run
freedesktop's GitLab. That's 11 server which would cost ~22500 USD a month.

While this should make the operating costs in 2024 close to 0 USD, it's a big
risk. If we are forced to start paying for the hosting, our current balance can
support the current infra for ~10 months. This means we would either need to
find more sponsors or start cutting on the services provided.

== XDC ==

XDC 2023 was a hybrid virtual/in-person conference organized by Igalia. It had
fairly low operating cost - 1.5K USD of sponsored travel and ~8.5K for materials,
services and catering. With the sponsorships it brought in, that leaves a lot of
money for our general usage.
