== Treasurer Report for Fiscal Year 2024 ==

The bylaws[1] of the X.Org Foundation provide a duty of the Treasurer to
produce an annual financial report, approved by the Board, within 60
days of the end of the fiscal year. The fiscal year is defined as
ending on the 31st day of December in each year.

X.Org was a member of Software in the Public Interest (SPI) for the part of 2024,
which handled most aspects of the Foundation's financial management.

As usual there were some delays in getting the complete reports. Even now,
already past the deadline, we have only draft versions of those to work with.

This report is accurate to my knowledge and if there are going to be any
corrections, especially after everything gets tallied up on the Software Freedom
Conservancy (SFC) side, I'll send an update.

== Transition To SFC ===

As mentioned many times through different channels X.Org is now under the SFC
umbrella. 2024 was a transitory period for us.

On June 17th 2024 150000 USD have been transferred from SPI to SFC. SPI will
transfer the remaining amount of money in 2025. This is currently in the works.
There may be some future transfers of donations towards X.Org done via SPI but I
hope most people will update to go through SFC directly.

X.Org and Freedesktop.org websites have been updated to take donations via SFC.

== Cloud Hosting ==

In 2024 cloud hosting costed us nothing thanks to generous sponsorship by
Equinix. Unfortunately this partnership has concluded in the first half of 2025
and we were forced to migrate.

I've highlighted this last year as a risk. Sadly it turned out to be a
foreshadowing.

For 2025 and on, Hetzner was chosen as our new home from among a few potential
providers. That's due to their overall low costs and especially cheap egress.

We get about $1K/month in credit from Hetzner in sponsorship and pay for
everything past that. Our operations don't hinge on those credits though.

We've estimated that our infrastructure should cost us less than $5K a month.
With the current balance we have years of reserve and we shouldn't have need for
any more sudden migrations. I'll keep an eye on the costs as we go. I'm also
working on securing sponsors that are willing to help with those costs in
particular.

We'll see how all of this shakes out in the next year's report.

== XDC ==

XDC 2024 was a hybrid virtual/in-person conference organized by Collabora. It
had unsurprising operating cost - $1.3K of sponsored travel and about $27K for
the venue, materials, services and catering. Most of that was covered by the
generous donation of $15K from the organizers. The sponsorships it brought in
leave a lot of money for our general usage.
