I've sent this message over a week ago to clarify a matter mentioned in the
board meeting minutes.
Unfortunately, it never got to members@ as I was sending it from the wrong
email account. I've never realized that it hasn't made it there.
 I sincerely apologize.

There in fact was a longer deliberation about whether to sponsor the golem.de
coverage and the reasons for the denial is worth mentioning here:
- Golem.de is a German publication and therefore reaches only a limited audience
  (Google Translate was not considered a viable way to 'internationalize' the 
  articles).
- The audience of Golem is of course different and less technical than the one 
  of LWN - the Phoronix' coverage of XDC for essentially the same audience was 
  also mentioned in this context: It seemed to be unfair to sponsor Golem.de as 
  Phoronix was never sponsored (of course Michael had never asked).
