How about Hawaii? ... Really!

Advantages:
* One place your spouses will not mind tagging along for some relaXing. So
you can make it a vacation. You'll get some attendees just from that factor
alone.
* You may get more attendees from the Far East region
* I have good contacts at both the University of Hawaii and BYU Hawaii where
the event can be hosted, unless you want to do it at a hotel.
* Air fares from the U.S. are very reasonable in the early part of the year
(about $300 for a round trip from the West Coast).
* Hotels in Waikiki are cheap, especially that time of the year.
* There is an annual open source software conference at the Honolulu
Convention Center every January. TPOSSCON (Trans-Pacific Open Source
Software Conference). We could tie the developer conference into that and
get some speaking opportunities out of it for some of our developers. Check
the speaker schedule from the 2006 event at
http://www.pfosscon.org/archive/2006

Just thought I'd throw it into the mix of ideas.
