[Members] Nominations for X.Org Foundation Board of Directors are OPEN

We are seeking nominations for candidates for election to the X.Org
Foundation Board of Directors.  All X.Org Foundation members are
eligible for election to the board.

Nominations for the 2006 election are now open and will remain open
until 23.59 GMT on 24 September 2006.

The Board consists of directors elected from the membership.  Each year,
an election is held to bring the total number of directors to eight.
Since only three candidates were nominated and chosen to serve two year
terms during last year's election, there will be five open director
positions to fill this year.  The four members receiving the highest
vote totals will serve as directors for two year terms.  The member
receiving the fifth highest vote total will serve as a director for a
one year term.

The directors who received two year terms starting in 2005 were
Stuart Anderson, Kevin Martin and Jim McQuillan.  They will continue to
serve until their term ends in 2007.  Current directors whose term expires
in 2006 are Egbert Eich, Jim Gettys, Stuart Kreitman and Leon Shiman.

A director is expected to participate in the weekly conference call to
discuss current business and will be required to attend the annual meeting
of the X.Org Foundation, which will be held at a location determined in
advance by the Board of Directors.

A member may nominate themselves or any other member they feel is qualified.
Nominations should be sent to the Election Committee at:

         elections at x.org.

Nominees shall be required to be current members of the X.Org Foundation,
and submit a  personal statement of up to 200 words that will be provided to
prospective voters.  The collected statements, along with the statement
of contribution to the X.Org Foundation submitted in the membership
application, will be made available to all voters to help them make
their voting decisions.

We are currently finishing our new membership management system.  This
system will allow both prospective members to submit new membership
applications and allow current members to renew their membership.  Once
the system is ready, we will make an announcement explaining how to
access and use the new system.  Note that membership in the X.Org
Foundation is required to be elected to the board. Nominations may be
sent before this new system is made available, however nominees must
satisfy the membership criteria by the end of the nomination period.

Nominations, membership application or renewal and completed personal
statements must be received no later than 23.59 GMT on 24 September 2006.
